One room in a single-family home for a special person with impeccable references. We are renting out 3 rooms in a 4-bedroom house. Rent for this room is $850.00/month plus 1/4 utilities. WIFI included. We have had some wonderful interns in the past so we know that there are others out there–who need a clean, convenient place to eat, sleep and study, who will not have a lot of company and don’t need to have parties here. No parties. There are currently two very nice young professionals.

We are renting the home for an elder who currently lives in an Assisted Living residence. We would be at the house occasionally cleaning out the attic and other spaces. Mostly it would be just you there. The room currently available has twin beds plus a desk and dresser and more. There is a closet in each room with some storage elsewhere on the property. The house is old but clean and with many updates including central air conditioning. Even though the room has 2 beds, the room is for one (1) person. We can remove a bed if necessary.
There is one full bathroom on the 2nd floor that is shared by the renters plus a powder room on the first floor. We will work with you so set up a room to your liking and can provide towels, washcloths, sheets, and blankets. Washer and dryer in the basement and shared with one other person who lives in the basement.
You have access to the full kitchen (with a large table) and a living room and dining room. You can sit and sun–or do your yoga–in the enclosed back yard. There is secure storage for bicycles.

It is expected that you will keep your space(s) clean but we will occasionally do a whole-house cleaning–including your space(s).
The house has free off-street secure parking for small to a mid-size car but there is usually street parking in front of the house. Three blocks to the Georgia Ave/Petworth METRO station. Safeway is two blocks away. Great restaurants, including HOMESTEAD, are within 3 blocks. CVS 3 blocks.
No smoking in or around the house. No pets. Signed room rental agreement, refundable security deposit of one month’s rent and first month’s rent required before move-in. This Basement Suite contains all the essentials of a full apartment, including a kitchenette, bathroom, living area, and laundry facilities. You’ll find tokens of our family’s life and aesthetics that have survived generations and speak to the heart and soul of the real DC, where residents have lived and worked, just outside the monuments. When you rest your feet after a day of exploring, you’ll find a comfy couch, queen size bed, plenty of storage, and the all the comforts of home within reach. There is a roll-away twin bed available for an occasional guest.

Roomer will have access to the entire basement as well as the private backyard space. The rest of the house is private. In the past, the basement resident was friendly with the upstairs residents.

We are close to many great restaurants including the Homestead three blocks away as is the Safeway grocery (and we even provide a grocery cart for your use)! Many other restaurants, a public library, and a bookstore are blocks away in the 800 block of Upshur Street.

Georgia Avenue/Petworth Metro Station (green line/yellow line) is 3 blocks away. The yellow line takes you straight to downtown DC in 10 minutes (approximately 4 stops) and is just 20 minutes from Reagan Airport. There is also some on-street and off-street parking.

Note:  The people who live upstairs also have access to the washer and dryer in the basement.

No smoking. Not suitable for pets. No parties or events. Small gatherings such as study groups are ok and possibly a small dinner party or backyard bbq with permission of the owner or property manager.
